Shishi lore

The shishi are great lions, sculpted of stone or metal, and granted life to serve as guardians of temples, shrines, and other holy sites. They possess intelligence and will far greater than the beasts they were made to resemble. Shishi have spread since the Shattering, as some now consider all Tian holy—or at least, significant enough to defend against outsiders.
