Grimnall the Hollowed is this month's chase Invoker: the Legendary you can earn for free by playing through three weeks of tournaments. Most players will grind for him and then put him on a roster that does nothing for his kit. Grimnall has no buffs of his own. His damage is fine without them, but his mana engine runs entirely on the buffs his teammates put on him. This guide covers how that engine works and which Epic supports and tanks feed it best, so you don't need a second Legendary to make him shine.

Grimnall at a Glance
- Rarity: Legendary
- Class: Ranged Attacker (fights from 9m)
- Element: Earth
- Faction: Nocturna
- Soul Sign: Sign of Duthra
- Overall tier: A+
- Best bosses: S on Galvos and Sorgott, A+ on most of the rest
- Bosses to skip: Koltmos, Ulgorim and Light Omnissi (E on all three)
How Grimnall Scales With Buffs
Three of Grimnall's skills pay out mana for every buff he is carrying when they land, and his Combo Attack keeps those buffs up longer. Values below are at skill level 11.
- Hallow Volley (Skill 2): hits one enemy for 610% ATK and gives Grimnall 35 Ultimate Mana per buff on him.
- Devilish Ricochet (Skill 3): hits up to 10 of the lowest-HP enemies in range for 320% ATK and gives him 50 Titan Mana per buff.
- Triple Trickshot (Ultimate): three hits of 345% ATK, and every hit gives him 75 Titan Mana per buff.
- Combo Attack, fifth hit: extends up to 2 random buffs on Grimnall by 2 seconds.
- Pistols at Dawn (Skill 1): two hits of 145% ATK, with 60% more damage while Grimnall's HP% is higher than his target's.
What that adds up to: with six buffs on him, a single Triple Trickshot returns 1,350 Titan Mana, Devilish Ricochet adds another 300, and Hallow Volley feeds 210 Ultimate Mana back toward his next Ultimate. With zero buffs, all three return nothing. More buffs means more Titan Invocations, and Titan Invocations are where fights are won.

What to look for in a partner
- Many different buff types. Grimnall counts buffs, so three different buffs are worth more than one big one.
- Team-wide targeting. Skills that hit "the 9 allies with the lowest HP" cover the whole team. Skills that only hit the 2 lowest-HP allies will usually miss a backline damage dealer.
- Buff extension. Anything that lengthens buffs keeps Grimnall's count high between casts.
- Healing. Keeping Grimnall topped up turns on the bonus damage from Pistols at Dawn.
Buffs of the same type don't stack. If Grimnall already has ATK Up and a second Invoker gives him ATK Up, the one he has just lasts longer. It still counts as one buff. So pick partners whose buffs differ from each other: a new buff type raises his count, while a repeat only keeps it up.
Best Epic Supports
1. Zirthia the Witness

Support · Wind · Lightseekers · Overall S
- Skill 3: Shield (25% of max HP) and 45% RES Up on the whole team
- Ultimate: 15% Skill SPD Up and 15% Skill Recovery Up on the whole team
- Skill 2: gives Ultimate Mana to 2 random allies (50 each if the target has 3 or more buffs)
Zirthia gives four different buffs, the most of any Epic, and every one of them is team-wide. Skill SPD Up and Skill Recovery Up also make Grimnall cast his mana skills more often, so the buffs pay out twice. If you only have room for one support, make it Zirthia. Full kit
2. Fulrik the Animator

Support · Water · Stonehearts · Overall A
- Skill 3: 40% ATK Up and 15% Combo SPD Up on the whole team
- Ultimate: extends up to 3 buffs on the whole team by 8 seconds, then adds a Shield (25% of max HP)
Fulrik adds three buffs and then stretches the whole stack. Combo SPD Up is also a quiet win: faster Combo Attacks reach Grimnall's fifth hit, the one that extends his buffs, more often. Full kit
3. Custodian Plumia

Support · Fire · Eldrin · Overall A+
- Skill 2: 40% ATK Up on the whole team
- Ultimate: extends up to 3 buffs on the whole team by 12 seconds, then adds Immunity against 3 debuffs
- Skill 3: heals and removes 2 debuffs, but only within 7m of Plumia
Plumia has the longest buff extension in the Epic pool, and Immunity stops enemies from stripping Grimnall's stack with debuffs. Keep in mind that her heal reaches 7m around her, while Grimnall attacks from 9m, so he can end up outside it. Full kit
4. Nirvelle the Soulraiser

Support · Light · Nocturna · Overall A+
- Ultimate: Unkillable for 10 seconds and 30% Crit Rate Up for 18 seconds on the whole team, and revives a fallen ally
- Skill 3: team heal, plus 55% ATK Up if the attack gets a kill
Two buffs that no other partner here gives, plus a revive. Nirvelle also shares Grimnall's Nocturna faction. Full kit
5. Thylsa the Rootwalker

Support · Fire · Eldrin · Overall A+
- Ultimate: heals the whole team and adds 45% ATK Up for 17 seconds
Thylsa only adds one buff, so she ranks lower here than on the overall tier list. Her team heal earns her the spot: it keeps Grimnall's HP high, which keeps the Pistols at Dawn bonus active. Full kit
Honourable mentions
- Fatefinder Dylaine: 50% ATK Up on the team, with a 1-in-3 chance of adding Harden.
- Zenneris: Move SPD Up and Evasion on the team. Two buffs, but neither helps Grimnall's damage.
- Kravul the Iron Shaman: strong buffs, but most only reach the 2 lowest-HP allies, which usually isn't Grimnall.
Best Epic Tanks
Epic tanks each give one team buff at most, so pick a tank to keep the team alive and let your supports build the stack.
Ruthos the Enthralled

Tank · Earth · Lightseekers · Overall A+
Ruthos's Skill 3 gives the biggest team shield of any Epic tank (30% of max HP), and his Skill 2 removes 3 debuffs from the team. He shares Grimnall's Earth element, and both rank well on Sorgott. The best all-round Epic tank for this team. Full kit
Gondo the Watchman

Tank · Dark · Cambion · Overall A+
Gondo is the strongest Epic tank overall, with a team shield, Shock, Blind and Taunt. His team buff is a Shield, which Zirthia and Fulrik already give, so he adds safety rather than buff count. Full kit
Kandra and Wild King Caladras
Both give the team Deflection, which sends part of the damage allies take to the tank. No Epic support gives Deflection, so either one adds a buff your supports can't. Caladras also brings Weaken and DEF Down. Both are B tier overall, so treat them as specialist picks. Kandra · Wild King Caladras
Recommended Team
Grimnall the Hollowed + Zirthia the Witness + Fulrik the Animator + Ruthos the Enthralled
- Zirthia: Shield, RES Up, Skill SPD Up, Skill Recovery Up
- Fulrik: ATK Up, Combo SPD Up, and an 8-second extension on 3 buffs
- Ruthos: a second team shield and debuff removal
That puts about six different buffs on Grimnall. Fulrik's Ultimate stretches them, and Grimnall's own Combo Attack stretches them further. Want more protection against debuffs? Swap Fulrik for Custodian Plumia to trade Combo SPD Up and a Shield for Immunity and a 12-second extension.
Team size depends on the mode. Some modes take four Invokers and others take five. The four above are the core. When you have a fifth slot, add Custodian Plumia for Immunity and a 12-second extension, or Nirvelle the Soulraiser for Unkillable, Crit Rate Up and a revive. Both bring buff types the core team doesn't have, so either one raises Grimnall's count.

Final Thoughts
Grimnall is worth the grind. He is A+ tier overall and strong on almost every boss, and he gets much better once his teammates are buffing him. You don't need Legendary supports to get there: Zirthia and Fulrik alone put him at six buffs. See Grimnall's full kit with every skill level, or the Invoker tier list for where every Epic above ranks on each boss.
