Izanami lore

Initially one of Izumo’s creator deities, Izanami died giving birth. She waited in Yomi, the underworld, for her husband Izanagi to retrieve her—yet when he attempted to do so, he fled, horrified at her newly decayed appearance. Now that the Shattering has weakened the barriers between worlds, she wreaks her vengeance by sending monstrous horrors into the realm of the living.
