Cyborg

When the New Teen Titans assembled, Victor was among them. He found a kinship with these unusual youths and also made civilian friends adjusting to prosthetics. He also found romance with Doctor Sarah Charles, a STAR Labs researcher who often helped with his tech when he needed replacements or upgrades. Over time, Victor gained confidence in himself and his role as a hero, to the point where he became a leader of the Titans and eventually a mentor to younger heroes. Ultimately, he became perhaps the most respected and long-serving of all the Titans.

After his body was severely damaged in a missile crash, Cyborg encountered an alien computer intelligence hive-mind called the Technis and agreed to merge with it in order to teach them humanity. However, the union affected Victor in alarming ways. He took the name Cyberion and started becoming less human. Eventually, his consciousness was lost in the Technis hive-mind, but his unconscious wish for his friends' companionship led the Technis to abduct various Titans and plug them into virtual reality simulations of what Victor felt was their perfect lives. The Titans and the Justice League united to find and retrieve Victor's consciousness, downloading it to a shape-changing war-suit called the Omegadrome. However, Victor now felt less human than ever.

Soon afterward, Nightwing revealed he had cloned Victor's body. Most of his organic body was recreated, while a portion of his cybernetic enhancements were retained, allowing him to continue his heroic career while looking human the majority of the time. However, when the Crime Syndicate of Earth 3 attacked, a sentient computer virus called the Grid invaded Cyborg's technological systems and rejected his human body, nearly killing him. He was taken to STAR Labs by Batman, who asked his father Silas to recreate his cyborg body. Silas was reluctant, remembering how angry his son had been the last time. Still conscious, Victor told his father that this was different—this time it was his decision. Silas completed the procedure, and Cyborg helped defeat the Crime Syndicate.

Cyborg discovered that his inner technology included a Mother Box, a piece of alien technology from Apokolips, the homeworld of Darkseid. Cyborg was instrumental in helping Batman go to Apokolips to revive his son Damian, the fifth Robin, after Damian had been killed in action. Having proved himself against the deadliest threats the universe had to offer, Cyborg became a full-fledged member of the Justice League, although he retained close ties to the Titans and continued to mentor young heroes when necessary.

Cyborg was informed that his father Silas had died of a heart attack. When he returned home, he was greeted by an android claiming to be his father. The android said that before his death, Silas was working with Victor's former classmate Markus Wilcox to transfer people's minds into computer code. Silas discovered that this living code was being used to run Wilcox's company, Solace. Cyborg summoned the Titans, and they took down the company despite its use of the Fearsome Five to counter-attack. Entering the digital world, Victor and Silas reconciled before Victor returned the mental scans to their biological owners and deleted everything, including Silas's code (at his father's request, so he could move on).
