Superman Family
Metahuman
HawkgirlThis is the current standard at the whale level in older servers. The idea is to have one win condition that you're using as a hypercarry by using four champions that buff them or keep them alive. If you make changes that bring in a second warrior or guardian, add that champion to the frontline.
Justice League Dark
Energy WielderStandard JLD comp generally fares well in the meta. You can run this with Sinestro as a fifth for a really nice Meta Brawl team, and it's a team that is easy for F2P to build over the course of a year by focusing on a full JLD team to start. I'm offering you replacement recommendations for a free-to-play JLD build as well.
Weapon Master
Arkham's Most WantedAMW used to be a dead tag synergy. With the addition of Riddler and Mr. Freeze, this is now one of the best teams in the game when heavily invested. Definitely a whale setup, but long-time non-spenders and lite spenders might be able to run this with good anvil usage. Standard flex options are included here. It's good to run an off-tank (Bane, Hawkgirl, Swamp Thing, or Scarecrow). Tyvokka set the table for the main three (Joker, Riddler, Freeze), and Quantum's Take here is you can really go several directions for the flex. Nurse Harley, Two-Face, Starfire, Zatanna, and Superboy can be used depending on whether you're looking for more DPS, healing, or ramp for your Joker. Some replacement options have been included to help F2P players think about how to build the team.
Shoutout to Devotion who came up with this combo. Nightwing Hypercarry has been a popular staple since his release, and this one does the best job of keeping him alive long enough to deal massive damage to your opponent. F2P and lite spend options included for viable replacements.
Legion of Doom
Weapon Master
MetahumanLOD has tapered off for older servers, particularly with the downfall of the physical damage meta, but this is still a stout team. Make sure your Sinestro is the heaviest investment. I'm not including any viable replacements because honestly you NEED these core four if you want the team to work, but if you are a non-spender and know this will be your team long-term, you could technically run Killer Croc instead of Scarecrow, Black Adam instead of Sinestro, Lex as your anchor, Captain Cold in a flex spot, and something like Bane or Wonder Woman up front instead of Deathstroke. It's just a pretty low damage team long-term. You NEED a heavily invested Lex and Sinestro bare minimum for LOD.
Amazons
Metahuman
Justice League Dark
Energy Wielder
Teen TitansAmazons have shown good staying power in the meta if you have DMWW. Various hybrid comps can work here. The team has tapered off due to all the Physical Damage counters out there, but this is still a very solid 3v3 Strategic Challenge and Ship Combat team for spenders. There are a lot of options for flex here, but the general idea is to keep your DMWW and Artemis alive long enough for Artemis to win a duel and ramp DMWW up. Quantum's Take: Run two supports in the flex spots, ideally Starfire and Riddler. Alternatively, you could move Artemis backline and run Swamp Thing as one of the flex options.
Metahuman
Teen Titans
Weapon MasterTeen Titans only lives as a legitimate tag synergy team because of Nightwing. You'll see better results going with Devotion's Nightwing Hypercarry above, but this one is quite nice for fans of the Teen Titans and anyone who just needs an extra team for ship combat. Cyborg can actually work as an off tank and so can Queen Hippolyta. There are some interesting TT/Amazons lineups you can run here.
Superman Family
MetahumanSuperman Family is definitely a team that has seen its better days in PvP, but I am hopeful that this summer it may find its way back into relevancy with the introduction of a fifth team member. The biggest issues here are Krypto being broken in PvP to not use his ultimate fast enough, and Supergirl taking so long to ramp damage. Bringing in some extra damage dealers like Lobo, or protective units like MMH or Hawkgirl might help. You can try to run a support as your Flex as well. Flash works really well for Combat Cycle.
Justice League
MetahumanJustice League is finally starting to get some solid comp options. I think it's still a solid intro team, and spenders can get out in front of a server by building an early version of this up to red stars. Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl actually turn this into a very viable long-term team for anyone who isn't a whale. One caveat is that Flash is only usable in manual play (Training Simulator, Anti-Crime Network, and Combat Cycle). You will want to swap him out for either Cyborg or some other support champion otherwise.
Bat Family
Weapon MasterBat Family went from being a heavily panned failed tag synergy to one of the most robust as far as options for building from F2P to Meta over time. I'm including my personal recommendation for the core team right now, with viable replacements for non-spenders and new players. Orphan has shown promise as the secondary damage dealer in this team, but you can swap her out for one of the Red Hood variants as well. Adding DM Batman as a viable replacement for Batman, but obviously a whale move, and honestly he has no real synergy with the team anyway.
Birds of Prey
Weapon Master
Bat FamilyThis is just an experimental theorycraft that I'd love to see people try. You get Birds of Prey and Bat Family tags with this one and I think the increased dodge and abundant healing make the team pretty stout.
Justice LeagueThis team is very similar to the Whale Meta team, but this is what I run on a regular basis. It's been quite good to take out all but the biggest spenders in my cluster.
